Vintage Mid Century Oil Painting From Sweden by Stig Kjellin

Mid Century oil painting titled by listed artist Stig Kjellin from Sweden titled "The Woman and the Cat". Striking oil of a  woman and a cat with a fisherman's boat in the background. Beautiful use of color. I love how the artist successfully breaks the rules and uses the rich cadmium red for his shadows. The buildings depicted on each side help direct the eye to the figure and in to the background. Artist: Stig Kjellin (1914-1979) Kjellin trained at Tekniska Skolan in Stockholm 1934- 1936 and took self directed overseas trips to study art in Switzerland and Spain. Represented in public collections in Sweden.
