Vintage Mid Century Expressionist Oil Painting from Sweden

Lovely oil painting by listed Swedish artist Einar Emland painted in impressively thick impasto with confident brushwork in a bold color palette of two figures looking out over crashing waves titled "The Harrowing Sea". Excellent use of composition and color. Love this one! 

Artist:  Einar Emland (1916-1994)  E Emland studied painting with Jules Schyl at Tekniska Skolan, and with Wilhelm Grüttrud in Oslo, with Rostrup Bøyesen in Copenhagen and at Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris 1946-1951. He is represented in many museum collections in Sweden. He liked to depict everyday people and happenings and believed that art should available to everyone not just the wealthy.
