Stunning large mid century landscape by listed artist Richard Björklund from Sweden. Gorgeous fall landscape with the sea on the horizon rendered in harmonious lavender, olive, ochre and blue tones. Confident painterly brushwork and an excellent composition with depth and atmosphere in this striking coastal scene. A beautiful painting that I will probably regret not keeping. A spectacular painting by a sought after and highly regarded artist. My photography does not do this piece justice!
Artist: Richard Björklund (1897-1974) Björklund studied at Campbells Painting Academy in Lund, Sweden 1919-1920 then in Paris 1921 at Académie de la Grand Chaumière and Académie Montparnasse. He was in Berlin 1923 and back in Paris at the Académie de la Grand Chaumière in 1924. His work is represented in many collections including the Nationalmuseum Stockholm, Moderna Museet Stockholm, Malmö Museum, Prins Eugens Waldermarsudde Collection, Ystads Art Museum, Lunds Universitets Art Museum, and Gripsholms Castle.
