Stunning man's portrait oil painting from Sweden. A finely detailed 19th century portrait of a man with softly rendered realistic features. The subtle use of light and shadow emphasises the sitters thoughtful expression. A very well painted portrait by a formally trained artist. This was most likely cropped from a larger painting and re-stretched. The deep saturated color and varnish reflected the light and made this piece hard to photograph. It's lovely in person.
