Super mod mid century still life painted in a harmonious color palette with confident brushwork by Ivar Ekelund from Sweden. Lovely paint application and excellent color usage. A very striking and stylish mid century painting.

Artist: Ivar Ekelund (1898-1972) Studied with Signe Barth from 1946 to 1947, with Isaac Grünewald in Stockholm 1948 and at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris 1949. Recipient of the Ester Lindahl scholarship in 1949 and 1950, the Axel Johansson scholarship in 1955 and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts' Pension scholarship. Ekelund is represented in many public collections in Sweden including Moderna Museet, Stockholm and Ystad Art Museum and Norrköping Art Museum.
