Mid Century Vintage Original Cityscape Oil Painting From Sweden

Mid Century oil painting titled by listed artist Stig Ryden from Sweden titled "The Alley with the Flowery Passage"- not the most poetic translation but you get the idea! Beautiful use of color and composition. The buildings depicted on each side of the composition and the street lamp cleverly direct the eye to the figure and in to the background and the figure in the passage. I love this piece for its color, subject matter and composition.

Artist: Stig Ryden (1910-1992) Swedish/American. Studied painting in Stockholm, Munich and Paris. Lived in New York City during the 1950's and exhibited widely in the US.
