Beautiful Mid Century Cityscape Oil Painting from Sweden by listed artist John Österlund dated 1952. Beautifully rendered view of a city street with an excellent use of light and shadow. The color usage in this painting is gorgeous and the artist expertly guides the eye from the foreground between the buildings to the background. A very atmospheric painting by a very well regarded artist. 

Artist: John Österlund (1875-1953) listed artist. Studied decorative painting at the Technical School's senior art and design department and later attended the Royal Academy of Art, where he earned the Chancellor Medal in 1903. His works are represented both internationally and in Sweden including the Uppsala University Art Collection, the State Historical Museum, The National Museum, Stockholm, Gothenburg Museum of Art and the Gothenburg Historical Museum.
