Stunning mid century oil painting by listed artist, Gunnar Persson, from Sweden dated 1962. Expressive brushwork and harmonious colors make up this wonderful summer landscape. Painted in a wonderful thick impasto with a beautiful use of color and an excellent composition. Persson was an expert in his color usage. He purposely let the warmer tone of the support show through his paint strokes creating a lovely contrast against the cooler colours creating a beautiful inner glow to the painting. This painting is stunning in person- my photography does not capture the beautiful subtle coloring in this piece. I love this painting-my photography does not do it justice!! Artist: Gunnar Persson (1908-1975) Gunnar Persson studied at Gottfrid Larssons målarskola in Stockholm 1928-1931 and during various trips to southern Europe. Persson is represented in Modern Museet, Kalmar Museum, Östersunds Museum and in various public collections.
