Vintage Mid Century Expressionist Oil Painting from Sweden Signed Emland

Great mid century expressionist oil painting signed by listed artist Einar Emland (1916-1994) Sweden. Atmospheric oil of two figures on wash day. Thick juicy paint application with nice use of light and dark values . E Emland studied painting with Jules Schyl at Tekniska Skolan, and with Wilhelm Grüttrud in Oslo, with Rostrup Bøyesen in Copenhagen and at Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris 1946-1951. He is represented in many museum collections in Sweden. He liked to depict everyday people and happenings and believed that art should available to everyone not just the wealthy. Oil on linen. Signed lower right. Frame shows wear.
