Gorgeous Mid Century oil painting by listed artist Torger Saether dated 1964. Super charming interior in brighter saturated tones rendered in a naive style. Confident brushwork with an excellent composition and use of value. I love a painting that tells a story! Very striking in person.
This painting is a beautiful example of mid century art which is getting harder to come by these days. This painting was painted the same year as the artist passed away. His widow authenticated the painting on the reverse as an original painting by the artist.
Artist: Torger Saether (1902-1964) Studied at The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna 1921-23 and during self directed study trips to Austria, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Norway. Represented in public collections in Sweden.
