Mid Century Original Still Life Oil Painting From Sweden by E Wallenqvist

Striking vintage mid century oil painting by listed artist Edvard Wallenqvist from Sweden dated 1949. Naive style colourful still life with excellent composition and bold confident brushwork. Some areas of paint applied thickly. Confident brushwork that shows no hesitation. Lovely in person! Another painting I'll probably regret selling.

Artist: Edvard Wallenqvist (1894-1986) Studied painting in Stockholm, Copenhagen and Paris. Was an original member of the artist group The Optimists during the 1920's. Represented in many art museum collections including National Museum and Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Kalmar Art Museum and other collections in Sweden.
