The darker background beautifully emphasizes the flowers and creates a nice drama to the scene. Confident brushwork with some areas of impasto. This jewel of a painting by a very successful and collectible artist has a beautiful luminosity and it speaks for itself. Gorgeous. I'll probably regret letting this one go.
