Striking mid century oil painting from Sweden by Carl Riise listed artist from Sweden titled "Atelier Interior". I love paintings of artist's studios and a glimpse into their worlds and this one is no exception! The interior features a view into the artist studio with his easel on the right and looking through a doorway. All of the objects depicted in the scene are successfully broken down into flat planes of color.  Harmonious color, confident brushwork and an excellent composition that verges on abstract. These mid century pieces are getting harder and harder to find. 

Artist: Carl Riise (1920-2016) Studied at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm 1939-1946.  Represented in museum and public collections in Sweden and abroad including Moderna Museet, Stockholm, National Museum, Stockholm, Musée des Beaux-Arts, Pau, Tessin Institute, Paris.
