Vintage Oil Painting by listed artist Uno Vallman from Sweden dated 1964. "Landscape Under a Starry Sky" by the Nordic Picasso. Striking oil rendered with beautiful color harmony, confident brushwork and an excellent composition. A glowing starry sky and very stylised landscape lend drama to this atmospheric scene. Fabulous in person!
Artist: Uno Vallman listed artist (1913-2004) Vallman first started his art studies in the atelier of Isaac Grünewald 1936. He was accepted into The Royal Art Academy 1939. Vallman made several longer and shorter study trips to, among others, Italy, Spain, North Africa, China, Norway, Mexico, Romania, the Soviet Union and the USA. Between the 1940s and the 1960s, he lived on and off in Paris for several years. There he met and was greatly influenced by Marc Chagall and Miro. In the 1960s, Vallman was sometimes called the "Picasso of the North " by French art critics. Vallmanism was coined by French art critics in the 1960's when they discovered his art because they could not place Vallman's art among already existing isms.
