Happy Midsummer and Some Newly Arrived Paintings
It's Midsummer here in Sweden- the almost holiest of holidays here. Taken very seriously mid summer's eve is celebrated with dancing round the maypole (yes, really!) long sit down meals consisting of pickled herring with potatoes and strawberries with cream for dessert, and, of course, a lot of obligatory schnapps usually downed in one shot after singing a short traditional and usually very silly song- many times. So caution needs to be exercised at the table...Our contribution to the table this year is homegrown fresh potatoes dug up at dawn..well, maybe not at 4am or whenever the sun was up this morning but early enough for me...

Mid century floral signed K Keiseraas (Norwegian, 1912-2005) dated 1946 Oil on panel with new handmade deeper set box frame. Measurements including frame: 57cm H x 50 cm W 375USD plus shipping
I love this painting for the color and the lyrical brushwork. So striking in person!
Fish on a Platter by Karl-Göte Andersson (1904-1959) . Oil on panel, measurements including frame 53cm H x74cm W. 400USD plus shipping.
A classic mid century oil with some impressively thick impasto on the rim of the platter.
"Bottles" dated 1956 by Lennart Rosensohn (1918-1994). Oil on linen, measurements including frame 68cm H x 82cm W SOLD
A fine example of mid century art by an excellent and well regarded artist. There is some craquelure in the darker colors which isn't unusual when darker pigments are thinned with turpentine. This does not affect the integrity of this piece in any way-totally normal. 775USD plus shipping
A beautifully painted horse painting dated 1952 from Flyinge. Flyinge is one of Sweden’s three national equestrian centers. This painting is signed but I, unfortunately, can not read the signature. Obviously, this artist new horse anatomy so I'm sure this was painted by a professional. On the reverse is the name Rausing. The Rausing's are on of Sweden's wealthiest families so this horse was possibly owned by the Rausing's which did have ties to Flyinge. 500USD plus shipping
Will van Leeuwen (Netherlands, 1909-1994) Oil on linen signed lower left. Reframed in a handmade deeper set box frame. Measurements including frame: 74 cm H x 54 cm W. 575USD plus shipping
Another beautiful example of mid century art. An excellent composition and use of color. Stunning in person- my framer was very interested in this piece!
Happy Mid Summer!
